There's actually a book I read way back when called 'the Gift of Pain' by a doctor named Paul Brand who worked with leprosy (hansen's disease) patients in India. When asked if he could give his patients any gift what would it be, that was his answer... "I'd give them the gift of pain". They lose appendages because they don't have the early warning system of pain receptors. I really recommend that book and the other book by him 'Fearfully and Wonderfully Made'. Anyway, thanks as always for your musings and for the beautiful song.

@@nicogroovecoach I really agree that pain is a gift. When we go to the doctor and tell him what's 'wrong' with us. Pain is actually what's 'right' with us in that it's our body's way of showing us what's really wrong with us. Soul pain receptors work in the same way, since they're usually flagging up symptoms to show us the deeper healing that needs to happen.

Oh my…this song!!! Laughing as well because my dad was unpredictable too. I remember he caught me altering my brand new driver’s license so I could get into the bars at SIXTEEN! Instead of getting mad at me he took my license down to his workroom and helped me do it properly with matching letters from his graphics set and helped me laminate it. He said: Well if you’re going to do it, at least do a good enough job you don’t get caught! 😂

Great reminder…better to have tried! I remember the first winter here on my property when I basically had given up a successful career, left my friends and family, having moved from my hometown to start a new life in the Okanagan. Right before Covid hit I was sitting in a failed relationship, cash poor, waiting tables to make ends meet, feeling a complete failure and terrified to tell anyone. I was completely lost and felt miserable and trapped. Cut to two and a half years later living my best life. It wasn’t failure it was just my path to success. I did eventually ask for help. So many good people helped me get through that time. It was all about refusing to see it as failure 😊
